Do I look fat in this? Am I wearing enough make-up? Does my hair look okay? Am I wearing the right clothes? These questions sound familiar?
Of course they do. Being girls we constantly ask ourselves questions about our appearance, wondering what people will think when they see us. No matter where it is. It could be lunch with a few of your close friends, an interview for a new job, taking your kids to school, or in my case, walking down the hallways of my high school.
Some of us don’t want to admit it. We want to pretend we aren’t. “I’M SCARED OF WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK OF MY PHYSICAL APPEARANCE.” Those are the very words that most of us would never allow to come out of our mouths. We simply brush it off. Try to forget about it. But, when the next day comes around the corner, we go through the old routine again.
Do I look fat in this? Am I wearing enough make-up? Does my hair look okay? Am I wearing the right clothes? Its one of those things we never think about, but we all do it. Mostly it’s because we are in fact scared of what other people will think. We are scared of being judged, Scared of not being accepted, or even scared of feeling like we stick out.
Some of us rise above this. Some of us fall, and continue to worry constantly. Those of us, who rise, are carefree. We seem to have this thought to ourselves that goes a little something like this. “If people want to judge me for the way I look, let them. I don’t care. This is me. This is who I am. Nobody can take that away from me.”
Personally I think that’s the best way to think about it. I mean, after all. There really is nothing to be scared about. It’s your choice to wake-up every morning and dress the way you do, put make-up on the way you do, and mess with your hair. Yes, people will judge you. Listening to them is a choice, and you can choose not to listen.
Never let people judge you, or tear you down all because they don’t agree with your physical appearance. THERE IS NO REASON TO BE SCARED, JUST BE YOURSELF.
