I currently go to a high school were, in order for you to fit in to what people call “clicks”; you have to look, dress, and even talk a certain way. It’s almost like being yourself isn’t good enough. So here’s what I have to say about life in high school. RESPECT OUR DIFFERENCES.
At school we seem to have this system were we label people. We call them things like; Nerd, geek, punk, jock, prep. You get my point. Anyways according to these labels we some how fit into a certain group. The thing that seems to make no sense at all is that it seems as if we all are at war with each other. All because we think we are better then someone else. That someone else whom you think would never fit into your group.
My question is: what if there were no groups? Would you still look at others the same and find yourself being judgmental? Or would you be more open to being their friend, simply because it didn’t matter. What if your friends with a geek and you’re a prep? Why should it matter? What if we never labeled each other? Would you find yourself accepting others to be your friends? That’s up to you.
But, when was the last time you looked at someone in your school; and you were ok with who there were? None of us are perfect. So why take the time to compare? I don’t understand how we can create so much hate, towards people we barely even know.
Why can’t we ever just take the time to get to know the person, before we let ourselves make such harsh judgments? When did putting down others become something that is done without thought? There can be some nasty things that people in high school say to each other, or about each other. It’s sad. It really is.
Now, I don’t care what your race is, what type of people you currently hang out with. You all have the opportunity to let people see you for who you truly are, just be yourself. Give someone a shot, before you go and tear them down. Nobody is the same. Respect others, as they respect you for who you are.
